It is with hearts filled with joy that all members of the Urhobo Studies Association join humanity in wishing you HAPPY BIRTHDAY on this momentous occasion of your attaining the splendid age of eighty! We most heartily rejoice with you.

Your achievement which is a source of Pride to Nigeria, and especially to your homeland and Urhobo. We do cherish you as an icon, an achiever of no mean repute, a trail blazer and mentor to generations of artists within and outside the shores of Nigeria. Your dexterous hands, your quick mind and diligence combine to make you the inimitable Owena who is always preceded by his fame. 

We are proud of you and wish you many more years so that you will bountifully reap the fruits of your labor.
We pray God will continue to protect you so that your presence will continue to inspire us to greater heights.

SUPPORTING BRUCE ONOBRAKPEYA FOUNDATION (BOF)


The Incorporated Trustees of Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation (BOF) was registered on 18th April, 2002, Nigeria 1990. BOF's mission is to engender the growth of art and culture through the provision of opportunities for artists to improve themselves through skills acquisition and empowerment, also it seeks to promote and develop public interest in the visual arts by creating awareness for the intrinsic values of African art and its benefits to society.


The Bruce Onobrakpeya Foundation has been an enduring player in the visual arts scene since its inception in Nigeria. It has organized the Amos Tutuola Show, Lagos (2000), the Annual Harmattan Workshop since 1998, and participated at the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government Meeting (CHOGM) Exhibition, Abuja (2003), Art & Democracy Exhibition, Asaba, Delta State (2004), and the Harvest of the Harmattan Retreat Exhibition organized in collaboration with the Pan African University, Lagos (2004) amongst other programmes.

In May 2012, BOF also featured internationally for the first time, the works of 20 artists at the Exhibition, Bruce Onobrakpeya and Harmattan Workshop Experiment at Kajinol Station in Dakar, Senegal during the 2012 Dakar Biennial.

In 2012, BOF was the winner of the Presidential Proclamation by His Excellency, President Goodluck Jonathan GCFR for exemplary work in empowering artists in Nigeria.

Since  turning eighty in 2012, the founder Prof. Bruce Onobrakpeya has began a transition process that not only identifies new talent to steer the organization in years to come, but that will gradually take reigns of leadership of the organization,  especially in continuing to run the organization professionally and to have artistic programs that are world class.
